Don't Lose Your Identity

9But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light;

   10Which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy.

   11Dearly beloved, I beseech you as strangers and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul;

   12Having your conversation honest among the Gentiles: that, whereas they speak against you as evildoers, they may by your good works, which they shall behold, glorify God in the day of visitation.

There is an identity crisis in the Church that has resulted in God’s people not being able to live as children of God. The identity crisis is caused by failure to associate with Christ.  
 

  • Church folk are trying to find purpose in a world without order.
  • Church folk seek individual identity.
  • Church folk are concerned about image in society.
     

In order for Christians to confirm their identity, they must allow God’s Word to define them rather than the world:  

  • The Bible defines our relationship with God.
  • The Bible defines our responsibility in the earth.
  • The Bible reminds us that we are kept for God’s glory.
