God’s Work Orders

Study of Ephesians| Discovering God’s Riches

5Servants, be obedient to them that are your masters according to the flesh, with fear and trembling, in singleness of your heart, as unto Christ;  6Not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but as the servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart;  7With good will doing service, as to the Lord, and not to men:

8Knowing that whatsoever good thing any man doeth, the same shall he receive of the Lord, whether he be bond or free.  9And, ye masters, do the same things unto them, forbearing threatening: knowing that your Master also is in heaven; neither is there respect of persons with him.

Ephesians 6:5-9 February 28, 2010

The Christian faith is not a ritual or a ceremony; it is obedience to Christ in every area of life. This includes our work or occupation. As believers we are to work in the world as if we are serving the Lord.

  • God assigns work to reveal the contents of our heart. vs. 5
  • God expects our work to reflect our faith. vs. 6-7
  • God will reward our work with His blessing. vs. 8

All work orders are directed by God with the intention of engaging our abilities and bringing glory to Jesus Christ. Spiritual work orders must be followed if we are to live out our faith in the workplace:

  • Work orders start with God’s blueprint.
  • Work orders always involve change.
  • When work orders are complete the product is ready for use.
